UCC Logo1United Chemical provides solutions to many pool, spa and hot tub water problems.  Below is a complete line up of their products.

U.C. has a long and rich histroy within our industry, and over the years has made a lasting impact. But what drives us? Why do we do what we do? As our CEO Scott Hamilton explains, it starts with the founder and his father Jock Hamilton.

The Why

Jock didn’t look at United Chemical as just a chemical company, or a product manufacturer; he looked at United Chemical as a means to help people be happy – TO CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE BETTER.

Jock was incredibly smart – a genius. It seemed like he knew everthing, and more so could explain it so you would understand. When I was about 10 years old or so, Dad and I were in the car talking about something science related – we were a bit geeky like that. I remember asking him “Dad, you’re so smart – why aren’t you President or something? Why make pool chemicals? Why not do something big that matters?” He thought to himself for a second, and said “Well, I think what I do does matter. I help people, and I make people happy.”

NO MOR PROBLEMS

No more algae, No more shocking, No more brushing, No more clarifiers

No Mor Problems is the ultimate solution to providing a crystal clear problem free swimming pool all year long.

No Mor Problems is an EPA Registered patented preventative algaecide that will give you crystal clear swimming pool all season long. More than just a preventative, No Mor Problems makes sure that you spend less time cleaning your pool, and more time enjoying it.

No Mor Problems prevents all types of algae and bacteria in every type of swimming pool. It’s patented formula works with your sanitizer to unleash its full potential – keeping algae from ever growing – and making sure your pool will stays clean and clear.

No Mor Problems formula also acts as a clarifier and pool filter aid, giving you the ability to reduce your filtration times by up to 50% - saving you money on your electric bill and reducing wear and tear on equipment.

No Mor Problems also breaks up chloramines (the chemical in pools that gives eye burn, skin irritation and that strong “chlorine” smell). This eliminates the need for shocking, saving you money on your chlorine.

No Mor Problems is safe to use: its formula is non-toxic, and is biodegradable – making your swimming pool safe for your family, your pets, and your environment.
Best of all, No Mor Problems is easy to use in your swimming pool; just add a few ounces to your pool every time you use chlorine.

Q: How does No Mor Problems prevent algae?

A: No Mor Problems is a patented algaecide that kills algae by activating chlorine in water. When chlorine is added to water it often reacts with things more than just algae. This locks up the chlorine in unusable compounds and reduces its ability to kill algae. No Mor Problems reacts with chlorine to unlock and accelerate its killing ability in addition to being an algaecide in itself.

Q: What types of algae growth does No Mor Problems prevent?

A: No Mor Problems prevents ALL TYPES OF ALGAE AND BACTERIA. Essentially, your pool water will be as clean as drinking water.

Q: Can No Mor Problems be used in any kind of pool?

A: Yes. No Mor Problems can be used in any type of pool that is treated with Chlorine or Bromine (including Salt Pools/Chlorine Generators). It also works with all types of algaecides and ionizers.

Q: How does No Mor Problems save me money?

A: In four key ways:

First, No Mor Problems eliminates the need for shocking. Shocking was necessary to break up chloramines in a pool to “unlock” chlorine from different compounds. However, No Mor Problems does this through its patented formula, eliminating your need to shock.

Second, No Mor Problems also eliminates brushing. Brushing was necessary to remove small deposits of algae. With No Mor Problems algae are unable to grow – eliminating the need to brush your pool.

Third, since algae can’t grow in a pool treated with No Mor Problems your filtration cycle can be greatly reduced. Part of the filtration systems duties is removing a small amount of algae from your pool. Without any algae growth, this role of your filtration system is eliminated, allowing you to reduce your filter cycle/time by up to 50%. This gives your pool enhanced clarity by allowing the filtration system to work at optimum efficiency.

Finally, No Mor Problems also eliminates the need for phosphate removers. Phosphate removers “starve” algae by removing their food source. However, with No Mor Problems , if the algae cannot grow – there’s no need to try to “starve” it.

Q: What can I expect from using No Mor Problems ?

A: As the name suggests – a problem free pool. In addition, you will notice your chemical costs (and electric bill) will be reduced for the above reasons. Also, you will notice enhanced clarity from your pool water. We often tell customers the easy way to identify a pool treated with No Mor Problems is if they can read the head of a Dime in the deep end of a pool.

Q: Will No Mor Problems kill algae already in the pool?

A: To a small degree – yes. However, No Mor Problems is formulated to last long in the pool to prevent algae – not kill algae already there. If you have algae present in your pool we recommend you use one of our Rescue Treatments before using No Mor Problems.

SALT TREAT

Salt Treat’s patented formula is the perfect recipe for removing stains in Salt Water Pools

Salt Treat is a patented stain remover designed specifically for removing stains in Salt Water pools.

While salt water and chlorine generator pools are a popular alternative, an often drawback is their frequency to leave light stains on the surface of the pool. Salt Treat eliminates this by dissolving the stains of the surface and keep metals dissolved in water for up to 60 days. What you’re left with is all the benefits of a Salt Water System and none of the drawbacks.

Salt Treat also prevents calcium build-up from forming on the salt cell generators, making your equipment last longer and work more efficiently.
Very easy to use, simply add one bottle of Salt Treat per 20,000 gallons to your swimming pool in the affected area. Then just follow up with a treatment every 60 days to keep your salt cell system in tip-top shape while keeping stains from coming back.

Provides a barrier to surface staining

Protects against efflorescence(calcium)

Protects wall fittings original color

Retains natural look and is suitable for all pool surfaces

Prevents scaling of the cells in all chlorine generators

What is Salt Treat?

Salt Treat is a sequestrant & a chelator. Those are fancy words for a metal holding, stain remover and preventor chemical.

Why do I need a stain product?

A fact not generally known by the pool business is that all water has metal in it. We get 25,000 calls per year on staining and over half showed no metals when tested. Staining is the number 1 problem and it's the hardest to fix. Algae is easy for us to get rid of.

Does Salt Treat remove metals from the water?

Some metals will be removed from the water but no product is effective in eliminating all metals from the water. Many of our calls are complaints about competitor's products that didn't work. Since metals come from dust, rain, fertilizers, city and well water, other chemicals, it's ridiculous to believe that you don't have metals in your pool. United's position is that you always treat for metals and that will protect you from a bad surprise. It's like wearing your seat belt always when you drive.

How effective is Salt Treat ?

Salt Treat is the most powerful stain product in the market today. It is recommended by most of the fiberglass companies, the largest vinyl pool company (Doughboy), plasterers from coast to coast. Thousands of pool professionals use Salt Treat .

What can I expect from using Salt Treat ?

First, you should know that stain removal is very difficult in many cases. Our normal dose rate is a 85,000 to 1 dilution. That's like doing the laundry with a drop of detergent. Your pool may clean-up in hours or take months to clean-up. Be patient. United makes other products that can accelerate the cleanup process but unfortunately they are more expensive.

Is Salt Treat toxic?

No! When diluted in the pool water, the oxalic acid in the formula is below the level of oxalic acid in spinach and rhubarb. We calculated that you would have to drink over 1900 gallons of pool water to get enough oxalic to be toxic. Of course, you wouldn't have survived the water. We do have some competitors trying to scare our customers but that's their fear of a better product.

Do I run the pump when I add Salt Treat ?

It doesn't matter whether you run the pump or not. Some people like to dump the product directly on the stain with the pump off. It's faster and more dramatic but can cause temporary streaking. Follow the instructions, it's easy.

Will Salt Treat affect my pool chemistry?

Yes. The product is acidic and can lower the pH. You may also witness a temporary loss of chlorine residual. Don't shock. Just gently chlorinate. Salt Treat is unique in that it performs in any pH range and is not super susceptible to chlorine damage.

Do I have to drop my chlorine or bromine residual before using it?

No. Don't shock the pool and up to 3ppm of oxidizer is OK.

What is the #1 cause of staining?

After 200,000 calls, United now knows that high oxidizer (chlorine, bromine, peroxide) is by far the most significant cause of pool/spa staining. As little as 3ppm is enough to cause staining. Shocking causes levels way above 3ppm.

My dealer says that I have to hold my chlorine / bromine residual above 3 ppm. Is this true?

That was before No Mor Problems® was around. United has made high residuals a thing of the past. As we said before, algae is easy for United. We've eliminated shocking, also. Remember these are the #1 causes of staining. With us, a 1 ppm residual is plenty, even in Florida.

I have clear green water, is this algae?

NO! That's classic symptoms of metal contamination. The pool is already trying to stain. When the water turns clear green, it's a sign of lots of metal and you should put in double the normal dose of United's Salt Treat to counteract the metal.

What metals is Salt Treat good for?

All heavy metals. That includes copper, iron, manganese, silver, and others. Typical metal colors are:

Green, blue, gray = copper

brown, gray = silver

pink, gray, brown = manganese

Brown = iron

brown (Fiberglass) = iron/copper

I just plastered my pool, is Salt Treat the best for it?

Yes! Yes! Yes! For some strange reason, the pool business doesn't relate to the fact that the best stain removal product should be used as a stain prevention product. If we're the best for removal, we're the best for prevention. Stain removal is much tougher than prevention. DON'T SHOCK! It's good for any just filled pool/spa.

Is Salt Treat ok for my pool surface?

Yes. We are used on all pool/spa surfaces. We haven't found a surface that we can't be used on. Paint and color (marcite) are unique and be sure to follow the instructions.

BLACK TREAT

Black Treat has the strength to control Swimming Pool Black Algae.

Features:

Kills black algae

Easy to use

Safe for you and your pets

Contains no metals

A lesser known fact of black algae is that it can never be “cured”; black algae releases spores that can remain dormant on the surface of your pool for years - it can even survive things like acid washing the surface directly. While spores aren’t visible – this means your pool will be susceptible to black algae growth. On top of this, Black Algae growth is difficult to eradicate.

Luckily, Black Treat is specifically formulated to eradicate outbreaks of swimming pool black algae in one easy to administer dose; simply add one bottle per 20,000 gallons and follow the recommendations on the bottle for super chlorination.

And to make sure you never have an outbreak of Black Algae again, we always recommend that you follow up with No Mor Problems® to suppress black algae from coming back and to keep your pool crystal clear all season long.

What is Black Treat?

Black Treat is an E.P.A. registered algicide formulated for the killing and elimination of black algae in chlorine/bromine pools.

How do I tell when I have black algae?
Black algae grows on the walls and floor as a black spot that you can scrape off with your fingernail. It is a colony algae that is very hard to kill. You must run a continuous preventative program after you have removed the visible colonies. If none will brush off, look out, you probably have cobalt staining. Use United's Cobalt Cure for cobalt. Cobalt happens only on fiberglass or epoxy.

What benefits can I expect from using it?
Your black algae will be immediately arrested and after you brush off any residue, your pool will have superior water clarity. Run your filter to clear it up.

Is it expensive to use?
No! A 3 lb. bottle will treat 20,000 gallons, and is 2 times as effective as most of the competitors, and we do it better!

How effective is Black Treat?
It is so effective that many pool professionals use it all over the U.S. We guarantee it! Always check your filter with Filter Aid first so you don't waste money.

What does Black Treat do?
It effectively kills black algae and starts to clean up the water of other invisible life forms.

Does Black Treat have copper or other metals in it?
No! It does not contain any heavy metals which can stain your pool.

Does Black Treat affect my pool's balance?
No! But if you over chlorinate your pool, you may affect your test kit results by bleaching and/or causing reactions with the test reagents. Simply add more chlorine/bromine neutralizer to correct the problem.

Can Black Treat Stain?
No! But you must be careful because you use chlorine to activate Black Treat and the chlorine can cause staining. Be sure to use United's Pool Stain Treat first, and then follow bottle instructions.

Is Black Treat ok for my type pool?
Black Treat is k for any type pool.

How safe is it for me, my family and pets?
Black Treat is non-toxic when added to the pool. We treat your pool as though it is drinking water. We have let algae grow on our test pools and then treated with Black Treat. The president of United and his family swim in that same test pool. All our chemicals are produced with the idea that you and your pets could drink the water safely in an emergency.

Is DPD (Pink Chlorine Test) the best for chlorine?
No! Our extensive field experience has shown that the OTO (Yellow Test) is a better choice. Let the test stand for 5 minutes after adding the reagent. Don't worry about free or combined chlorine. United makes depending on DPD (Pink test) obsolete. We also found that DPD is less reliable.

Is there anything different when using Black Treat?
Yes! Your pool will go through a clean-up period that will last from one day to 3-4 weeks. During that clean-up period you may experience a low or no chlorine reading. Don't panic! Just chlorinate continuously. Don't shock! A chlorinator or feeder makes life easy and we recommend them. If you lose your chlorine residual during heavy rain, bather load, or high temperature, just increase your feed rate until the residual comes back.

Do I still need chlorine?
Yes! Black Treat is activated with chlorine. After the initial treatment, chlorinate continuously which is much better than shocking.

How can my pool look so good without a chlorine residual?
Just as judging a person by age as to how he feels is not accurate, testing of pool water does not always tell you what's happening. Many chemistries in the pool can affect your test results. As long as you're feeding chlorine and the pool water looks good, you are reasonably safe.

Is Black Treat all I need?
No! As great a product as Black Treat is, we biodegrade. We highly recommend that you use No Mor Problems® to eliminate all algae in the future. Also, none of our products need any particular water balance to work, but your pool on the other hand does. The main reason that you balance a pool is to control scale, corrosion and staining. United knows that you don't want to work on your pool, you want to enjoy your pool. Ask your dealer for a copy of the revolutionary Hamilton index for easy preventative maintenance.

Can I get rid of algae forever?
Forever is a long time. We have been able to stop algae for 13 years now. How? With No Mor Problems®used as a maintenance program. We suggest you start using No Mor Problems® 48 hours after adding Black Treat. Remember to add No Mor Problems® as per bottle instructions. You will see a visual improvement in water sparkle as proof of No Mor Problems® effectiveness once the stabilization process is complete. We also eliminate shocking!!

Should I use No Mor Problems year-round?
Yes, unless you close your pool in the winter. During the off season, you will need very little No Mor Problems® and you will save time and money on the spring clean-up.

Most balancers affect both pH and alkalinity. This creates a problem when you have one parameter of your pool’s balance just right, but need to adjust another. This usually involves “see-sawing” back and forth trying to get both pH and Alkalinity balanced – wasting time and chemical.

Easy pH is the only pH raise that does not contain carbonates – what Alkalinity measures. Because Easy pH doesn’t contain carbonates, this means you can effectively raise your pH without worrying about your pool’s Alkalinity rising out of balance – saving you time and money.

Easy pH offers you the newest and best way to balance your pool or spa water. Unlike other pH increasers, Easy pH will minimize the potential for scaling and staining of the pool or spa.

If you have the common problem of an ideal total alkalinity with a pH that is too low, Easy pH is the only easy way to correct it. No bouncing up and down.

If you have a low pH with high alkalinity, there is no other product on the market that can match Easy pH's ability to correct the problem. This is a common condition with trichloro tablets.

Easy pH is the only product to use with United's patented No Drain Acid Wash to neutralize the acidic condition.

Q: How does Easy pH work?

A: Easy pH is a patented pH raiser that does not contain carbonates. Other pH raisers, such as Soda Ash and Baking Soda, contain carbonates that raise your pool’s alkalinity. Easy pH’s gives you the advantage of raising your pH without affecting your alkalinity significantly.

Q: How much does Easy pH® raise pH compared to Soda Ash?

A: Easy pH is 2.5 times stronger than Soda Ash. This means 6.4 ounces of Easy pH is equivalent to one pound of Soda Ash in terms of its affect on pH.

What benefits can I expect from using it?
Your pink algae will be immediately arrested and after you brush off any residue, your pool will havesuperior water clarity. Run your filter to clear it up.

Is it expensive to use?
No! A 2 lb. bottle will treat 20,000 gallons, 2 times what most of the competitors can handle, and we do it better!

It is so effective that many pool professionals use it all over the U.S. We guarantee it! Always check your filter with Filter Aid first so you don't waste money.

What does Pink Treat do?
It effectively kills pink algae, water mold and starts to clean up the water of other invisible life forms.

Does Pink Treat have copper or other metals in it?
No! It does not contain any heavy metals which can stain your pool.

Does Pink Treat affect my pool's balance?
No! But if you over chlorinate your pool, you may affect your test kit results by bleaching and/or causing reactions with the test reagents. Simply add more chlorine/bromine neutralizer to correct the problem.

Can Pink Treat Stain?
No! But you must be careful because you use chlorine to activate Pink Treat and the chlorine can cause staining. Be sure to pre-dissolve the chlorine and broadcast the solution on top of the pool, don't pour it down the sides.

Is Pink Treat all I need?
No! As great a product as Pink Treat is, we biodegrade. We highly recommend that you use No Mor Problems® to eliminate all algae in the future. Also, none of our products need any particular water balance to work, but your pool on the other hand does. The main reason that you balance a pool is to control scale, corrosion and staining. CAL TREAT

Cal Treat is a uniquely formulated blend of proprietary ingredients that reduces calcium hardness in pools and spas.

Effectively reduces calcium hardness without draining swimming pool

Reduces scale formation on pool surface

Restores water clarity

Reduces Calcium Levels between 200-400 ppm

One Bottle treats 15,000 gallons

Contains no ingredients that will stain pools

CalTreat revolutionizes how you balance your pool by lowering Calcium Hardness

CalTreat is a revolutionary formula that will effectively lower your swimming pool’s calcium hardness by 200-400 ppm. It is the only effective calcium hardness reducer on the market.

Traditionally, lowering calcium hardness involved partially draining and refilling your pool level. This was a costly method, and for many who live in areas with hard water is ineffective. CalTreat™ changes this by removing calcium hardness from your water using your filtration system.

Q: How does CalTreat™ remove calcium hardness?

A: CalTreat™ reacts with calcium hardness in water to turn it into a “larger” molecule – allowing the filtration system to pull it out of the water. This means that when you back wash your filter – the calcium hardness is gone.

Q: Will CalTreat™ cloud my pool water?

A: In most cases, no. While the Calcium Hardness molecules are larger, they’re still not visible to the naked eye. Although it is possible to lose some clarity, it shouldn’t cloud the pool like most flocking agents.

Q: How quickly will CalTreat™ remove calcium hardness from my swimming pool?

A: CalTreat™ slowly removes calcium hardness to prevent clouding the pool. It will remove calcium hardness over approximately a week.

Q: Will CalTreat™ remove scale?

A: Actually yes! Although not it’s intended purpose, customers have reported that CalTreat™ will sometimes remove scale deposits from pool. It’s important to note that in these cases, it will not reduce the calcium hardness of the water as effectively (since it has already reacted to the calcium scale), and a second dose is recommended to lower the hardness.

NO DRAN ACID WASH KIT

The No Dran Acid Wash kit is the ultimate solution for heavy stains and scale in your pool.

Now...you can remove pool surface stains that up to now have meant draining the pool and acid washing. If you have priced an acid wash recently, you'll find you will also SAVE significant amounts of money using UNITED CHEMICAL's kits.

Acid washing removes plaster and therefore shortens the life of the pool surface. UNITED's No Dran kit minimizes these and other problems.

Anyone can perform this process with NO prior pool experience. Just follow the easy instructions and brush the pool with the pool brush.

NO SCRUBBING...Just brush as usual. United's powerful chemistry will do the rest. The stains soak right off the pool surface.

If you use Pool Stain Treat regularly, you may never have to do this or any other stain removal process again. No Dran Acid Wash kit works on any pool surface, including fiberglass, painted, vinyl and marcite.

The No Dr?n Acid Wash® is a patented process that is the ultimate solution to removing the toughest stains and scale from any pool easily and effectively.

Traditional acid washes are expensive, time consuming, and can damage pool surfaces. The No Dr?n Acid Wash® provides better results without damaging plaster while saving money.

This revolutionary process uses your pool’s water to perform an acid wash while still being gentle on the surface. Each No Dr?n Acid Wash® kit contains chemicals to begin the process as well as pool balancers to re-balance the pool. The end result is a clean even finish that is often smoother than ever before.

The No Dran Acid Wash® is also very easy – effectively dissolving away stains and scale with as little as a few minutes work per day. This process is so powerful, it can remove stains and scale in anywhere between a few days and a week.

Best of all, no draining is required - saving you time and money.

Q: What types of pool surfaces does the No Dran Acid Wash® work on?

A: The No Dran Acid Wash is effective and safe on all types of surfaces, be it plaster/Marcite, vinyl or fiberglass.

Q: How does the No Dran Acid Wash® work?

A: The No Dr?n Acid Wash removes stains and scale from the swimming pool surface without draining by creating a mild acid bath to wash the surface. Each kit contains acids to lower the alkalinity and pH to create the acidic environment. You then add the included chelator and sequestering agent to dissolve the stains and scale, and brush the pool surface once per day. Once the stains are gone, simply use the included water balancers to re-balance your pool.

Q: How is the No Dran Acid Wash® safer than a traditional acid wash for the pool surface?

A: Traditional acid washes involve draining the pool and pouring liquid acid directly onto the surface. This can give uneven results (such as streaking), and is very abrasive to the pool surface. The No Dran Acid Wash® uses the pool’s water to form a solution to dissolve stains and scale, while being gentle to the surface. By using the water in the pool, you are also ensuring an even finish and results.

Q: Do I turn the system off to use the No Dran Acid Wash?

A: Yes, the circulation system should be turned off once the pH begins to go below 7.2. Once the pH is above 7.2 at the end of the process, you can switch your system back on.

Q: Do I have to worry about algae during the No Dran Acid Wash?

A: While it is unlikely that algae will grow during the No Dran Acid Wash® process, we recommend you use a floater during the process to prevent any possible algae. DO NOT shock the pool – as this may interfere with the stain/scale removal. Simply lightly chlorinate during the process.

Q: Can I swim during the No Dran Acid Wash?

A: No! The pool water will be very acidic during the process, and the pool should remain closed until the water is rebalanced. Kits contain signs that should be posted around the pool during the process.

Q: Do I need anything in addition to the No Dran Acid Wash kit?

A: You will need a pool brush and bucket to perform the No Dran Acid Wash®. Also, depending on your pool, you may need to supplement the process with additional balancers and/or regular muriatic acid

Q: How does Pool Stain Treat remove and prevent stains?

A: Pool Stain Treat is patented chelator and sequestriant. This means Pool Stain Treat® dissolves stains of the surface of your pool. It then “traps” the stain causing metals in your water to prevent them from coming back.

Q: What types of stains will it remove?

A: Pool Stain Treat is effective on all types of mineral/metal stains. 99% of stains on pool surfaces are from metal in pool water dropping out and reacting to the surface of the pool. Pool Stain Treat® reverses this – pulling the metals of the surface of your pool and removing the stain.

Q: How quickly will Pool Stain Treat remove the stain?

A: This depends on a number of factors, such as the type of stain, type of surface, etc. However, customers have reported seeing results anywhere from several minutes to 24 hours.

Q: What types of pool surfaces will Pool Stain Treat work on?

A: Pool Stain Treat is safe and effective for every type of pool surface, be it plaster, vinyl, or fiberglass. We do recommend that if using on a colored plaster surface that you pre-dissolve Pool Stain Treat® to prevent streaking.

EASY ALKALINITY

Easy Alkalinity makes pool water balancing easy by only raising Alkalinity – not pH

Easy Alkalinity is a formulation to help you add total alkalinity to your pool or spa water. It is conveniently packaged in one pound doses for easy application. Easy Alkalinity can be used to help rebalance your pool or spa water after heavy rains that lower your total alkalinity.

It is compatible with Baquacil and Softswim.

Easy Alkalinity is used when the fill water is too low in total alkalinity. It will raise the total alkalinity approximately 10 ppm per 10,000 gallons.

Easy Alkalinity is a unique balancer formulated to raise your pool’s alkalinity significantly while only moderately affecting your pool’s pH.

Most balancers affect both pH and alkalinity. This creates a problem when you have one parameter of your pool’s balance just right, but need to adjust another. This usually involves “see-sawing” back and forth trying to get both pH and Alkalinity balanced – wasting time and chemical.

Easy Alkalinity’s concentrated formula raises alkalinity with only moderate affect on pH, saving you time and money.
